An introduction to wine. And even semi-amateurs can learn some thing new.
At cost.
Ned Towle, the Director of Westchester Wine School, has agreed to give a short introduction to tasting. He will discuss the sensory evaluation of wine – tastes, flavors, and tactile sensations; ways to discover your own personal preferences; and some of the vocabulary used to describe wine.
If you've been here before, you know he packs a lot of fun and information in 15 minutes. He might even discuss things longer. As always, several long-time aficionados will be there to talk about the wines.
After this: you'll be able to go to any major wine tasting, confident that you can learn more.
Let us select the wines this one time. We're purchasing wines from the southern hemisphere, excellent wines that are excellent representations of the grapes we'll be reviewing. We know that these are hard times financially so we'll keep it more than reasonable: $15.
The cost is only $15 per person. I'm kind of embarrassed at how affordable this is. They say that people only like wine tastings that are expensive. But this is impossible for you to turn down.
You read it correctly. Normally an entire course for 8 weeks is about $700. One class, $85.
It is IMPOSSIBLE to get this quality for any less.
It won't be an extended class, but Ned and Colin will be around to talk and answer questions. We'll even have a few books for people to peruse. And if you have a wine book yourself, bring it so people can compare!
We do ask that people bring appetizers. It helps us taste the food.
Please RSVP. And a couple bucks helps pay for the room. We may also raffle off a wine of some sort.
