Meetup Groups meet face-to-face to pursue hobbies, network, get support, make friends, find playgroups or even change the world!

You'll get invited to our Meetups as soon as they're scheduled!
This Wine Meetup Group will have a strong educational component as we discover what we can about wines from local sommeliers, wine merchants, and instructors, but without sacrificing the socialization that makes Meetup so wonderful.
At this time, we mainly attend tastings and lessons open to public registration. We choose locations that are in Durham or Chapel Hill and hope to plan special events as we grow and participation becomes solid.
What we've done so far:
- Free tastings at various area vendors
- Classes at Southern Season
- Private tastings at The Wine Cellar
What we're looking to in the near future:
- Classes/Tastings at Wine Authorities
- Classes/Tastings at Parker and Otis
- Structured tastings and/or dinner parties at members' homes or clubhouses
- Wine dinners at various restaurants around the area
Other suggestions under consideration:
- Trips to wineries, day trips, chartering a bus so no one has to drive
- An adult "prom" or formal night
Mostly, we keep it simple and have a good time. This is not a group that "puts on airs" so newcomers should not be intimidated if they know nothing about wine. Just come, relax and learn with us. Make some new friends.
The organizer welcomes suggestions.
***** PLEASE NOTE *****
Before you RSVP "yes" to a Durham Wine Meetup event, please note the following expectations:
A "Yes" RSVP to attend an event means that you are definitely joining us. If you sign up for an event, consider it a commitment to attend.
Cancellations should be made at least 48 hours prior to the start of the event. On the rare occasion that something urgent comes up within the last 48 hours, the event leader should be contacted directly - simply changing your RSVP is not sufficient.
These are the Durham Wine Meetup's definition of "common courtesy". If you are not willing to show this minimal respect to the event leader and fellow attendees, you are welcome to leave the group. Instructions to do so can be found here: http://www.meetup.com...
Repeated failure to abide by these courtesies will result in removal from the group.
