The address for this party has been sent out. If you did not get it, please email me. You might want to look in your junk mail folder as well.
I have procured all four Herding Cats wines form the importer. So please keep this in mind when shopping. We do not want too many duplicates.
I will be adding more facts about South African wines and how to shop for them as I receive them. This event is in Broomfield.
South African Wines are slightly difficult to find in our market. There are plenty of them around, but some stores don’t bother stocking them because the consumer isn’t interested. This was the position Spanish wines held in our market about five years ago. No stores stocked them because people didn’t ask for them. If you’ve been attending our events, you’ll know Spain is one of our most popular tastings and the shopping inventory over the metro area is exceptional now. This is one of the reasons I decided to make some contacts, so I can assist you in shopping for your contribution from South Africa, for this Saturday.
There are several inexpensive South African wines, in particular the KWV, a cooperative for nearly a century. KWV (Kooperratiewe Wynbouers-vereniging), established in 1918, was a massive producer, buying most of the grapes grown in South Africa for decades. There might be some bargains in this line of wine. Two other inexpensive brands are the Herding Cats and Tall Horse. These wines have their merits and we will be anxious to sample them, but I am asking you to look beyond the inexpensive offerings and seek a little better quality for this tasting.
After the KVW’s monopoly was broken a little over a decade ago, growers began to fancy their own wine label. It was a difficult road. The consumers didn’t consider South Africa anything but a bulk wine producer. No one wanted to take them seriously.
Fortunately, the winemaking potential in South African is exceptional. They experience trade winds from two coasts. The weather is ideal, sunny, but enjoying a considerable drop in temperatures at night.
The wine grape growers were steady with their endeavor to make good quality wine. Now, because of their persistence, South African wines are available in our market and the selections are very good, albeit sparse compared to Australia and even Spain. I have put out a few emails to retailers, distributors, and even a couple of importers looking for South African wines. I will update the event page, so you have a reference on where to shop.
-Peter at Little Raven Vineyards tells me he has eight South African wines under $18. Peter is known for his keen palate. Consider swinging by his store to pick up a bottle for Saturday in the Riverfront district of downtown. LRV is known for its unique selections.

I will be sending the physical address out the day before the event. Teresa lives in Broomfield. Please look beyond the KWV wines (a long standing cooperative that makes uninteresting bulk wines). Please read below.
